Here are six different ideas I explored in rough thumbnail format. I tried creating different dominant shapes as well as themes and lighting. The challenge was starting with the same blank space as the foundation for each concept. I’ve titled each of the sketches according to their separate stories, all scifi in theme.

Oobleck is Non-Newtonian (corn starch and water). As this video demonstrates, it does not behave like a typical liquid, and spontaneously changes into bizarre shapes in a “solid” state when stress is applied. If you have a large subwoofer and baking pan at home, you can do the same experiment.

One of the best lessons I learned in character design from my teacher in college, Mike Genz, was that everything in the world was made up of a combination of 3 shapes: circles, squares, and triangles.
