More character design inspiration.
One of the best lessons I learned in character design from my teacher in college, Mike Genz, was that everything in the world was made up of a combination of 3 shapes: circles, squares, and triangles.

I was watching this video on youtube and was completely inspired to clown the crying clown boy in cartoon form. I plan on taking my sketchbook to more public places, so count on more entries like this in the near future. This is by far one of the best things about drawing. Mwhahahaha.

With the accelerated versatility of technology and its increasing use in the field, an interesting and concerning reality will be here well within our lifetime. Robotics in combination with bio-technology are what seem at a high forefront with the human species. I see a more drastic merger of the sciences in the future.

US forces recently deployed remote-controlled robots equipped with automatic weapons in Iraq
Prof Noel Sharkey fears increased research and spending on unmanned military systems by countries including the US, Russia, China and Israel will lead to the use of autonomous battlefield robots that can decide when to kill within a decade.
In a keynote speech he will also predict it is only a matter of time before robots become a standard terrorist weapon to replace suicide bombers.
Prof Sharkey, of the University of Sheffield’s Department of Computer Science, is best known as a judge in the BBC television series Robot Wars.
He will outline his fears in a speech at a conference on the ethics of unmanned military systems at the Royal United Services Institute, a respected defense think tank.
Prof Sharkey said yesterday: “There’s a massive drive towards developing autonomous robots for more complex missions.

Hey so I guess I can talk about this now, since they’ve announced it on Vinylpulse. Thanks Jack.
Dr. Seuss mesmerized generations (and continues to do so) of children with numerous books filled with his unique drawings and memorable rhymes. Horton Hears a Who!, one of his most popular titles, tells the [...]

One dream of mine since watching movies was to have a starring role as a zombie. It would be a delight to stumble about while drooling without being looked at in disgust for it. Did you ever notice in a zombie movie there is often one “special zombie” that never gives up? Ah yes, [...]

I was at Target yesterday walking around because I needed to get new 9 volt batteries for the fire alarm and my clock. Something that I do if I have the time is stroll through the toy section to see what new craziness is being released to entertain the kids. The wife and I have a growing collection of toys and plush animals, so we both have to limit what we get these days.
There was one nerdy toy I couldn’t resist getting. The Spheron Race Car. The wheels are metallic and attach to the chassis of the car with magnets. Pretty cool. It comes with a little display ramp that the car sticks to with its magnetic power. If you push the car down a bit, it releases from the vertical platform and launches at incredibly smooth speed across the floor. It was only $5, so it wasn’t too bad an investment on an innovative concept. Check out these pictures I took after getting back home. Maybe you’ll be convinced of having one as well and joining the ranks of the true dorks.

My friend Greg Hardin hosts this sweet drawing forum over at Drawergeeks. It’s pretty cool because he started it to give studio artists an outlet to draw for the fun of it, just like scribble-time at recess! Yeah!
The drawing theme for this week as “Monsters Under My Bed” and I started thinking, what [...]

What’s better than Super Mario World ? Not too many games in the spiral galaxy….unless it’s Super Mario World: Hacked. I have to give the people playing this game credit, the patience to succeed in this version is an ultimate test of focus and will.

If you live in the US and are paying attention to economics, you know that the value of the dollar has been dropping. In fact, it has down nearly 40% against the Euro since 2001. Is this a thing of concern? Some would say no, and that it is a down-swing that will inevitably [...]

My friend Joe sent this article through a message board today. This was very interesting and sparked a discussion amongst us about the issue. It’s widely reported that people have the experience of “waking up” in the middle of the night to some sort of dark presence and a weight on their chest…unsettling. Science, the spiritual, or a combination of both? Read on and decide for yourself….
As a college student in 1964, David J. Hufford met the dreaded Night Crusher. Exhausted from a bout of mononucleosis and studying for finals, Hufford retreated one December day to his rented, off-campus room and fell into a deep sleep. An hour later, he awoke with a start to the sound of the bedroom door creaking open—the same door he had locked and bolted before going to bed. Hufford then heard footsteps moving toward his bed and felt an evil presence. Terror gripped the young man, who couldn’t move a muscle, his eyes plastered open in fright.
