by Eran Hilleli So dope. Probably one of the weirdest projects I’ve seen Tom Waits involved with also. I never thought he’d team up with Dr. Octagon. Squeak E. Clean Productions Executive Producer N.A.S.A.’s debut album “The Spirit of Apollo” hit the shelves 2/17/09 on Anti-/Spectrophonic Sound. For all you fans of retro gaming. Video by Patric Jean from onemoreproduction. Carl Fredricksen, an elderly man with a floating house traverses through an undiscovered world of flora and fauna, accompanied by a young asian cubscout, a technologically enhanced golden retriever, and exotically strange bird….and, it’s completely acceptable because of solid personality and character development. I just saw UP with my wife over the weekend. This has got to be one of my favorite Pixar stories, and they’ve already set the bar pretty high with all the other films. What always blows my mind about these guys is the surgical care they take to every iota of the what happens, and how it weaves into the overall theme that’s being communicated. Being a guy who’s married to a supportive, funny, and weird wife also helped me appreciate it in ways that weren’t revealed in any of the movie trailers. I loved all the characters, but found myself cheering the most for Carl throughout the film. He has this complicated yet simple personality arc, from childhood into the present day that is just….constructed so well! I can’t say enough good things about this movie. Just go see it. The concept is direct and communicated in a creative way.
A twisted vision of consumption ascending a fictional chain of steam-punk creatures. Wir hassen teuer. (We hate expensive) First Aired: 1973 Lyrics: Conjunction Junction, what’s your function? And! Hahahaha. I found this my friend Alex’s blog. This is so weird and quirky. I could imagine a whole series of animated shorts done in this style. I hope to see more of these in the future. This is one movie that I’ve been very excited to see since glancing at the maquettes last year at comicon. The character designs and poses were so dynamic! I am a kung fu classics movie junkie, so I was hoping they’d do some kind of justice or homage to the genre. After seeing the movie I was entertained and satisfied, especially with the central message of the story. What really amazed me was 2-d animated opening to the film. It was so over the top! Hahaha. Very nice. Here’s a few stills from the dream sequence. Great composition and colors.
Who can forget the brilliant and hilarious creature comforts created by the good folks at Aardman Animation? The great news for all who enjoy anthropomorphic animals pining about politics, social matters, and annoying neighbors are all new episodes on animal planet.
What a great video that poses interesting questions that are relevant to our times and the cyclical nature of civilization. History doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.
Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom is an educational Adventures in Music animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions, and originally released to theaters by Disney’s Buena Vista Distribution on November 10, 1953. A sequel to the first Adventures in Music cartoon, the 3-D short Melody, Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom is a stylized presentation of the evolution of four musical instruments over the ages: the horn (“toot”), the flute (“whistle”), the guitar (“plunk”), and the drum (“boom”). The first animated cartoon to be filmed and released in widescreen CinemaScope, Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom won the 1954 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). In 1994, it was voted #29 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field. |
